Luotsikatu 4
Katajanokka
Helsinki
Finland
1905
This early-period building was completed in 1905 during a construction boom in Katajanokka.

This pretty building is famous for being the childhood home of Moomin-creator Tove Jansson, who lived here until she moved to Stockholm to study art.

It is said that the tall, rounded towers were the inspiration for the shape of the distinctly rounded house that the Moomin characters live in.

The large central window on the top floor belongs the the apartment that Tove Jansson grew up in.
